Project TH3M Welcome
What a miracle it is when musicians get together on a project and take it to the next level night after night. When it’s a reunion of dynamic talents like saxophonist Bob Franceschini and vibraphonist Mark Sherman – students together at the High School of Music and Art in NYC – the music can reach dizzying heights. This is clearly evident with Project TH3M. As young musicians, Sherman and Franceschini aspired to start a band, and Project TH3M has made clear that the wait was worth it.
Project TH3M hit the road several months ago playing all over Europe and ultimately recording several of the originals groomed on the tour. The music grew and evolved night after night, roles and grooves solidifying. Each concert was an act of exploration, as the members navigated the poetic language of jazz to collaboratively compose this set. Project THEM captures the magic of the band in full flight, honed on the fly from sets on the road.
Bob Franceschini is one of the most in demand musicians on the planet, known for his work in guitarist Mike Stern's band as with The Yellowjackets. His big sound, technique and heart and soul continue to trail blaze on the amazing path and tradition of jazz saxophone.
As a winner in Downbeat Magazine's Critics and Readers Poll 2007- 2013 Mark Sherman brings a deeply rooted post bop approach to a program of originals and standards that convincingly carry on the art form with a potent level of invigorat- ing musicianship. His voice on the vibes is relentlessly energetic, hard charging, and brimming with incredible improvisations from his refined skills and deep commitment to the art form itself.
Adam Nussbaum is a true master of the music. He shapes a piece of music from the drums in the most thoughtful and perfect way. He’s played with a who’s who of musicians including Dave Liebman, John Scofield, Stan Getz, Gil Evans, Gary Burton, Kenny Wheeler, Charles Lloyd and many more.
Master bassist Martin Gjakonowski's composition "The South Song" gives a clear picture as to why Martin is one of the most sought out musicians in Europe.
Mitchel Forman brings his deft touch on keyboard and organ to Project THEM. Forman has released numerous albums as a leader and worked with jazz greats including Stan Getz, Mel Torme, Gerry Mulligan, Wayne Shorter and the Mahav- ishnu Orchestra.
